Notices: Week Commencing 17 Jan 2022

Date Added: 17/01/2022 @ 8:06am

Electoral Roll

Before we hold the Annual Parochial Church Meeting in March, we need to revise the membership of the Electoral Roll.
If you are already on the roll then you don't need to do anything. If you are not on the roll and would like to be, then please see either Pat Beadle or John McKee for an application form.

Being on the Electoral Roll makes you a full voting member of the church which means you can vote at the APCM and also put yourself forward to positions within the church if you so wish.

At this time of year we ask you to review you weekly giving to the church. Your weekly giving enables the church to meet all its expenditure obligations.  This includes all the running costs of the church and also
our obligation to pay our Common Fund to Diocese. The Common Fund is part of our expenditure and therefore not a separate payment. The upkeep of the church is expensive in heating, lighting, maintenance and repairs.

If you do not regularly pay into our funds then there several ways you can do that by:

  • Regular giving on the plate
  • Using weekly envelopes so that you can make a donation even if you don't come to church on a particular week.
  • Making a regular standing order at your bank
  • Making one-off donations for particular expenses such as church, churchyard, car park maintenance as well as Children and Family work.

However you give to the church, could we ask that you review your circumstances and if you could increase the amount, even slightly, that would make a huge difference.

We have been considering the use of contactless payment instead of putting cash on the plate – many churches now use this method.  It would be good to know what the congregation think of that method.

If you would like to discuss anything about giving, and also how to join the envelope or Parish Giving Schemes, or about Gift Aid then please see John McKee for details.

Coffee after Church

We would like to start serving tea and coffee again after church at the beginning of February.  However we still really need a few more volunteers to do that.  Please see Marion if you can help.

Wednesday Fellowship

We are looking forward to our fish and chip lunch on Wednesday 19th January.  Gather for 1pm but please make sure you are wearing masks which can only be removed whilst seated at the tables.  We shall keep some ventilation going, so wear warmer clothes!

Home Groups

In view of the rapidly rising COVID cases in North Devon, the difficulty of ventilation in a small room and the necessity of wearing masks throughout, it has been agreed that Liz's and Graham's groups are unlikely to meet until the spring.  However please try to keep in touch with each other to keep fellowship going.
