Word For The Week
Thought for the Week
All over the country, there are many different places that have mazes to explore, whether that’s Hampton Court or Blenheim Palaces, or even the Milky Way just down the road. A maze is a popular thing for young and old to enjoy together. But the thing about a maze is that there’s only one way through it. And when it comes to knowing God, there’s only one way too:
Question 20: Who is the Redeemer, the one who reconciles us to God?
Answer: The only Redeemer is the Lord Jesus Christ.
When Jesus is celebrating the Last Supper with his friends, he says these words: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) If we want to know God, if we want to see life in all it’s fullness, the only way is Jesus. There is no other method, person, or place that can get us there, it’s only through Jesus, the Son of God. It’s simple, but it’s also quite controversial, especially in our post-modern, pluralistic world. Maybe you’ve heard people say: “Christianity is just one way up the mountain” or “we’re all taking different ways to the same truth.” It’s certainly a popular sentiment in today’s culture. But if we want to know God, we need to listen to the one who comes from God, the one who reached down from heaven to help us. And he says there is only one way, and that is by coming to Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life.
